Michael Carrick has confirmed that Amad Diallo and Carlos Baleba will miss Manchester United’s home fixture against Ipswich Town, although both could return before the September international break.
Speaking at Friday’s press conference, Carrick said Amad would not be involved this week and would remain out for a little longer. Baleba is also unavailable because of an ankle issue.
There was more positive news on Mason Mount, who has returned to training with the group after a knock. Manuel Ugarte remains sidelined long term with a knee injury.
Baleba’s return remains without a fixed date
Carrick indicated that Baleba could be out for a couple of weeks, or possibly three, as he recovers from his ankle problem. He did not set a firm deadline for the midfielder’s return.
Asked whether Baleba and Amad could feature before the September international break, Carrick said the club were hopeful but would wait and see rather than place a timetable on either player’s recovery.
Amad unavailable as Mount returns to training
Amad will not be available for the Ipswich match, with Carrick offering no further detail on the nature of the issue. The manager said only that the forward would be out for a little longer.
Mount’s return to training provides a positive update as United prepare for Ipswich, while the continued absences of Amad, Baleba and Ugarte leave Carrick managing a reduced group.
