Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed on X that Villa have agreed a deal with West Ham for Wan-Bissaka, describing it as a loan with a mandatory buy clause and stating there is agreement between all parties. Romano added that the player has given the green light to the Villa project and that a medical has also been given the go-ahead, though the move has not yet been formally completed.
A familiar face returning to the Premier League
Wan-Bissaka needs little introduction to United supporters. He joined from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2019 and went on to make 190 appearances for the Reds across five seasons, scoring twice and establishing himself as a regular starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, most notably during the 2020-21 campaign when he featured in 54 matches.
His spell at Old Trafford came to an end under Erik ten Hag once he lost his place in the starting XI, prompting a move to West Ham. He went on to make 65 appearances for the Hammers, scoring twice, but his future at the club was thrown into doubt after their relegation from the Premier League last season.
