United insider: INEOS ‘prepared to accept offer’ for £50m Ten Hag signing who’s played 20 games under Amorim

Manchester United will seemingly consider all avenues this summer when it comes to raising transfer funds and getting rid of deadwood.

This includes sanctioning the exits of players signed in recent windows, with the likes of Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, and now Mason Mount all linked with premature moves away from Old Trafford.

The latter’s prospective exit has only just emerged as an option following the reopening of the transfer window on Monday, so fans may want to keep tabs as to whether any suitors come in for the midfielder in the coming weeks.

Why United are said to be contemplating Mason Mount’s sale

Ex-Red Devils chief scout Mick Brown has revealed to Football Insider that INEOS are ‘prepared to accept an offer’ for Mount if a suitable proposal arrives due to their expected acquisition of Bryan Mbeumo.

Last week, United saw their opening offer of £45 million plus £10m in add-ons rejected by Brentford, but remain optimistic that a deal can come to fruition after the forward gave priority to the club amidst interest from Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

This would leave Mount in an even more precarious situation of trying to nail down a permanent starting spot, having struggled to do so — albeit due to his unrelenting injury setbacks — in the two years since he joined from Chelsea.

The 26-year-old racked up 26 appearances across all competitions in 2024/2025, including only eight Premier League starts. On the other hand, Mbeumo, 25, was available to start every single league fixture, making 30 more starts than the out-of-sorts Cobham graduate.

One factor that would perhaps bode in Mount’s favour is that Amorim has previously expressed his admiration for his play style. Shortly after he succeeded Erik ten Hag last November, the boss told club media: “Mason Mount… I have to tell you I love that kid.

“You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me. I know he was suffering from injuries, he was not on the pitch, but now he’s trying to stay fit and we hope he can continue to be fit, to show all the talent that he’s shown, for example, in Chelsea.”

What former United scout has heard about Mount uncertain future

Nonetheless, here’s what Brown is hearing from his side.

“There is a possibility that Mason Mount is sold. They put a lot of stock into getting him fit again and getting him back to where he was. He’s played a number of games in succession now, but I think Amorim has made the decision that he doesn’t think he’s good enough,” he claimed.

“If they feel they can move him on and there’s enough interest, they’re prepared to do it. United will do the same thing with a few of their fringe players if offers are made.”

  1. Really delighted that Mbeumo is near to signing for us, he is a great player and the fans will adore him. CF is our next move after Mbeumo deal is done, but we still don’t know WHO. The cheapest option now is Vlahovic or David, but Vlahovic really wants to come here, and this transfer can be done quickly. With this cheaper option we can go and get Ederson for midfield and a goalkeeper.

  2. I’ve had selling Mount on my dance card for a while now, assuming he’s replaced. He’s keen and I can see the skills, but I could never quite see how he fitted at Man Utd. To me, he’s always looked like a slightly better version of Fred – wheels spinning frantically but not getting any traction.

  3. Why is no one talking about selling LUKE SHAW ?
He should be sold this summer.
I think United should do business with Napoli, Adding some money on Sancho and bring in Osinmen.
Osinmen would not earn up to Sancho.

    1. That is true. Luke Shaw is good when he is fit but when you are injured so often and for so long, you become a liability to the club and expensive at that.

  4. Agreed. With the availability of Mbeumo deal done than next should go for the best striker who can score goals with his feet and head because we Cunha and Mbeumo who can feed the ball to the centre. For MU as we know Mbeumo really want to go to MU why ve to wait just get him otherwise Spur will go and get him.As for the players who are to be sold , get them out asap. Like Ramus he opt to stay but he should be out too. Given chances many times but still cant improved,Even against team from Asia he cant score a goal. What kind of Striker is he? If the caoch want him to stay and said that he can improve , better dont go to purchase a striker again wasting of money. Since Ramus is to stay for sure the head coach will play him. what a waste of money in buying a striker for 72 mil but dont know to score goals. Go and sell him out.

  5. Man United should go and rivals Chelsea on Malick Fofona that boy at 19 yrs old, is dangerous massive he’s not afraid to get into the mids of defenders, MU can get him €35m
