Manchester United chiefs will encourage Ruben Amorim to share his thoughts on players’ contracts when he officially takes the reins in the mid-month international break, according to ESPN.

While the head coach is not expected to have the final say on transfer dealings, his opinions will be taken into consideration by the likes of Sporting Director Dan Ashworth and Co.

For now, there are six Reds facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford ahead of their deals expiring in June 2025: Amad Diallo, Christian Eriksen, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton.

There are one-year options included in both Amad and Maguire’s terms, which, in most cases, tend to be activated in order to protect the club’s resale options.

As for the Ivorian, reports have suggested that he was in line to receive a bumper deal following an impressive start to the campaign – though speculation has since quietened on the matter. He is currently being made to settle for an off-the-bench role despite being one of United’s most exhilarating forward options. If it continued, you couldn’t blame him for considering his options elsewhere.

We can only assume that Evans, who will be 37 by the time his contract comes to an end, will not be offered an extension. He could even decide to hang up his boots altogether after struggling with frequent injury setbacks throughout his second United stint and the final season of his Leicester City tenure.

It remains to be seen where Amorim stands on both Eriksen, 32, and Lindelof, 30, the latter of which was – remarkably – teammates with the new head coach during their time at Benfica. He has been linked with Fenerbahce in a move that could see him reunite with former boss Jose Mourinho.

Amorim’s plans to implement a 3-4-3 formation means fans can expect a new-look backline for the remainder of the term. Maguire has already proven that he’s capable of operating in a back three on numerous occasions for England under Gareth Southgate.
