Manchester United and Chelsea are yet to find a breakthrough as they enter the interval of tonight’s clash at Old Trafford.
The visitors have enjoyed the majority of possession as it stands, boasting 54 per cent to the Reds’ 46 per cent after 45 minutes, and have also registered two more shots than United’s four attempts.
As expected, Cole Palmer’s prolific attacking exploits are proving difficult for the defensive contingent to keep under wraps, with Manuel Ugarte already on a yellow card for bringing down the Blues’ talisman outside the area.
Alejandro Garnacho, who was trusted yet again to make an impact from the off instead of Amad Diallo, has had his fair share of the ball with Rasmus Hojlund up front. However, fans are beginning to lose patience with the latter for his wasteful passing.
Why fans are growing frustrated with Hojlund’s first-half antics
Samuel Luckhust took to X/Twitter during the first half to relay the United faithful’s concerns from inside the stadium, writing: “A lot of United fans starting to get annoyed with Hojlund delaying a ball in behind for Garnacho. Happened twice in the last few minutes.”
So far this season, Garnacho has emerged as the most clinical and reliable forward in the Reds’ frontline. He’s tallied six goals and four assists in 15 appearances across all competitions, while Hojlund, who spent the beginning of the term sidelined with a hamstring injury, has scored twice in his first nine outings since returning from the setback.
Amad is waiting patiently for his chance to start and would’ve perhaps anticipated that Erik ten Hag’s sacking would’ve aided his case. It remains to be seen how new head coach Ruben Amorim will opt to utilise the attacking talent at his disposal, with most fans already mulling over how his 3-4-3 formation will take shape in the backline.
