Alejandro Garnacho believes in himself and has vowed to keep pushing after recently making his 100th senior Manchester United appearance.
It’s an incredible achievement for a player who has come through the youth ranks at the club, but a story we are familiar with at United thanks to a world-renowned academy.
United fans rightly consider it a tradition to give young players opportunities in the first team because that is how the club has been built for many generations. There is further proof of that in the first team with Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford.
In an interview with club media, Garnacho said (via ManUtd.com): “I have always been this type of player. To be daring, to always try and try again and, if it doesn’t work, try again and never give up. That’s just who I am as a footballer and, in the future, I want to continue to reach my potential.
“I always try to do the best I can. Sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn’t, but I always try to do the best for the team. Sometimes, it’s best to dribble. Other times, it’s best to cross. It depends on the situation but I always try to contribute the best I can and say, at the end of the game, that I have done everything possible.”

Confidence has never been an issue for Garnacho. It’s crucial for a winger when they are in the business of taking on opponents and winning football matches.
“As a kid, I have always been this type of person,” he added. “Not just as a player but as a person. I have never been scared of anything and never get nervous – even if I play well or badly. So this is another point in my favour when playing, so yeah, I have always been like this.
“The only time I got a little bit nervous was when I entered the field of play for the FA Youth Cup final. The stadium was completely full and it was the first time I had experienced this. But, after that point, I’ve not felt that pressure again and I love playing at home with our fans.”
Garnacho will be in squad to face Chelsea at Old Trafford today.
