Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update on Ruben Amorim’s move to become Erik ten Hag’s successor at Manchester United.
Amorim’s switch from Sporting Lisbon to United has been heavily touted for the past week since Ten Hag’s dismissal and progress is being made as both clubs negotiate formalities.
The Portuguese coach is expected to take control of the first-team during the November international break. He is expected to take charge of more games for Sporting before his release.
Until then, Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to remain as caretaker boss after winning his first game 5-2 against Leicester City on Wednesday night. The win puts United into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, with Tottenham Hotspur drawn as our next opponents.
Meanwhile, United fans are waiting for an official announcement to confirm Amorim as their new manager.
Romano has outlined the current state of talks between Sporting and United with his latest update on X. He wrote: “Manchester United and Sporting have prepared all documents for Ruben Amorim’s move to be sealed in the next few deals.
“Same on manager side as Amorim will sign at Man Utd until June 2027, as planned.
“Formal steps to follow soon.”
Ruben Amorim will hope Ruud van Nistelrooy can deliver results
Van Nistelrooy is once again the focal point at United.
If Van Nistelrooy’s side can keep winning matches, it will lift the mood for when Amorim arrives in November.
United has big games coming up—Chelsea, PAOK, Leicester City—in the Premier League and Europa League. We need to win these matches, and Van Nistelrooy is fully aware that we’re playing catch-up after a slow start to the season.
The Reds are currently 14th in the Premier League and we’ve yet to win a match in Europe after drawing three this season.
