Manchester United returned to Europa League action on Thursday when they travel to Istanbul to face Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.
Erik ten Hag’s side got back to winning ways in the Premier League over the weekend, beating Brentford 2-1, but they have yet to win a match in the new-look league phase of the Europa League.
In United’s previous Europa League tie, the Reds travelled to Lisbon where they endured a dramatic 3-3 showdown against a FC Porto side with lots of firepower. Some will be expecting more drama for United with Victor Osimhen lining up for Fenerhance, and they will need a megapari promo code to take advantage of the best odds on the market.
It came as another blow in the competition after dropping points against FC Twente in the opening round of fixtures at Old Trafford. That said, United are still deemed favourites to claim their first win of their European campaign and finally launch their Europa League campaign after two draws.
United and Fenerbahce are in a similar predicament and have been similarly underwhelming so far. The Turks are currently 13th in the Europa League standings with four points and have experienced a turbulent start to the season under newly appointed Jose Mourinho.
Domestically, Fenerbahce have been inconsistent, as they sit 4th in the Super Lig table. It doesn’t give Mourinho much to boast about just yet.
Mourinho will be facing a former club in United. One he lifted the Europa League with in 2017 and both clubs would love to be in that sacred position this season.
When is Fenerbahce vs Manchester United?
Fenerbahce host Manchester United at the Sukru Saracoglu in the Europa League on Thursday, October 24. Kick-off is at 20:00 UK time and it will be shown live on TNT Sports 2.
Erik ten Hag vs Jose Mourinho
The manager is looking forward to his showdown with Mourinho, labelling one of his Manchester United predecessors as “an example for many, many managers.”
Mourinho is one of the most decorated managers in history and while he proved a divisive figure at Old Trafford, United fans will remember him fondly for the success he delivered in Europe.
“It’s a big game for both of us,” Ten Hag said at the Football Writers’ Association Northern Managers Awards dinner. “I really enjoy facing him and playing against him. He has always good teams, he is a winner – he (has) won so many trophies – I think he is an example for many, many managers.”
