Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim is going to feature in the Manchester United and Man City gossip columns as both rivals may have to consider a managerial change next summer.

Erik ten Hag is under enormous pressure after a slow start to his third season in charge, while City are waiting on hear on Pep Guardiola’s plans for the future.

The situation at United is clear as far as we can see it. INEOS are backing Erik ten Hag to turn things around rather. Otherwise, a decision would have been made during the October international break.

During that period,England appointed Thomas Tuchel as manager despite the German having met with Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the summer.

Amorim is a name we heard more during the summer when it initially looked like Liverpool were considering the Sporting coach to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. They opted for Arne Slot in the end.

German football reporter Florian Plettenberg claims Amorim is not only on the list at City as a potential replacement for Guardiola, but United hold a particular interest in him.

The reporter adds United have already made specific inquiries about Amorim and his situation in Lisbon, although it is understood that the board still trusts Ten Hag.

It should be noted that Anorim has a release clause next summer and is not planning to move mid-season.

Having a plan for the future should have nothing to do with a poor run of results on the pitch. United should always be looking at the next up and coming managers because you never know what awaits around the corner.

The best clubs are prepared and United under INEOS are thriving to be the best once again.

Christian Falk claims via YouTube that United are making a shortlist of three potential replacements for Ten Hag, including Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic.

He claims that United have already made contact with Terzic’s representatives. That seems like a common trend in these stories but we’ll probably never know if there is any truth in it.
