‘Rock Bottom’ – Pundit claims Ten Hag is taking Red Devils backwards

Former Tottenham Hotspur star and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has claimed Manchester United are going backwards under Dutch coach Erik ten Hag.

It was a hugely disappointing performance in Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils were inferior to Ange Postecoglou’s side who constantly found space around the Manchester United box to create chances on Andre Onana’s goal.

Ten Hag was a solemn figure on the Old Trafford touchline as he shook his head in the Manchester rain watching another 3-0 defeat at home.

He will be hoping he can turn results around quickly, starting with a midweek trip to face FC Porto in the Europa League, before travelling to Villa Park to face Unai Emery’s Aston Villa next weekend.

Jamie Redknapp believes Erik ten Hag’s job is in serious trouble after Spurs defeat

Jamie Redknapp appeared on Sky Sports’ coverage of the Spurs clash at Old Trafford and he gave a damning verdict on the former Ajax manager’s future in the Old Trafford dugout.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp said: “It gets to a point where you almost feel sorry for the manager.

“He looks completely out of his depth, he looks like he is struggling to motivate this team.

“You asked about Ange [Postecoglou] being under pressure, if you’re a manager under pressure this is the place you want to come because you get all your confidence back.

“You look at Tottenham today, it was so easy for them.

“It feels to me now that with United, I think that’s £616 million he’s spent Ten Hag, he’s been there two years, they’re going backwards, he’s going backwards.

“You can’t complain anymore, he’s got his back four in place, all the players at his disposal, there are no excuses and they are rock bottom right now, I just don’t see where he can go from here.

“They are as bad as I’ve seen a United side.”
