Every time Manchester United drop points Erik ten Hag is going to get criticised. The Dutchman has been in charge of the team at Old Trafford for over two years and he is fully aware of the pressures that come with the biggest job in football.

Turning things around at United won’t be easy, but Ten Hag doesn’t sound like a man that will give up on achieving his objective, though results must improve in the coming weeks and months.

Ten Hag has been criticised again after Wednesday’s 1-1 draw againstFC Twente in the Europa League.

In a game that United should be winning, especially at home, the Reds failed to take their chances on goal and Twente struck where it hurt in the second half. It wasn’t the response Ten Hag would’ve asked for from his players following Saturday’s scoreless draw at Selhurst Park.

Former manager Ruud Gulliet took a cheap shot at Ten Hag during his analysis of the draw with Twente after being left unimpressed by the amount of instructions the manager appeared to be giving Alejandro Garnacho on the touchline.

Gulliet is quoted as saying (via @TheEuropeanLad): “I saw Erik ten Hag talking to Garnacho all the time. The only thing a player is thinking during a moment like this is: ‘dude, leave me alone.'”

Garnacho’s brother takes to social media after draw

As you can imagine, most of the blame on social media was directed at the manager.

Ten Hag must take some responsibility but it was interesting to see Garnacho’s brother, Roberto, jump to X after the match to show his defence of the match.

Roberto wrote: “Btw you all blame ten hag, but 11 United players level not being able to smash them at home, I don’t think that’s on ten hag mate.”
