Former Manchester United winger Gordon Hill was left baffled after Manchester United’s disappointing 1-1 draw against FC Twente on Wednesday night.
United wasted chances and failed to keep a clean sheet on what was another frustrating night for Erik ten Hag as manager. The Dutchman was annoyed by how his team gave away a goal in the second half, but the Reds should have been home and dry by that stage.
The club legend, who played for United between 1975-78, won the FA Cup under Tommy Docherty. He scored 46 goals in 117 matches during his time at Old Trafford and still pays close attention to everything United.
Hill often posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, to share his verdict on things related to United, including matches.
Last night, the 70-year-old complained about United’s performance against Twente and criticised the manager because he fails to see what he is trying to achieve from a tactical point of view.
“I can’t see it,” one of Hill’s posts on X read. Read them below:
Having played for both clubs, It was a good result for FC Twente, 1-1 at Old Trafford, United will be disappointed with that result. but very time I watch them I don’t know what I am going to get.

Below par for me, way below, I just do not see his plan he keeps going on about. very frustrating. All the money spent with little to show.

I am listening to Eric now so just wait while I listen. wow he has just said, We have to be more consistent, and clinical, we have to finish. we score another goal and we win. Has he thought what Twente had in mind. just confusing totally. He may see it but I don’t see it.

I am saying it as I see it, and I have been in the game all my life. I just don’t see it.

Hill spent a season at Twente in 1985 but his mind was set on seeing United get a positive result last night, but, sadly it wasn’t to be.
