Boost for INEOS as Ten Hag’s ‘most important’ forward is now ‘very happy’ at the club – despite previous reports

After a tremendous start to 2024/2025, one Manchester United starlet is poised to be rewarded with fresh contract terms.

Indeed, Amad Diallo has impressed INEOS chiefs so much so that he is expected to be made a contract offer in the coming months.

Should a deal not be agreed by the new year, United will then trigger the 12-month extension embedded in the Ivorian’s current contract while negotiations continue over improved terms.

The 22-year-old livewire has undoubtedly cemented his place atop the side’s best performers so far this term, vying each week with fellow in-form star Alejandro Garnacho for a starting role under Erik ten Hag.

In the Premier League, Amad ranks above all of his teammates for touches in the opposition’s penalty area (21), shot-creating actions (15), chances created (10), passes into the box (nine) and final third tackles (three), leading StatmanDave to label the young whiz United’s ‘most important’ attacker.

Yet, his situation at Old Trafford hasn’t always been smooth sailing. When he returned from a lengthy injury setback last season, he made just two off-the-bench cameos in four months, totalling a mere 46 minutes worth of action in the top flight. During that 16-week period, he was an unused substitute for eight matches and was omitted from the squad entirely for two matches.

This led to speculation around that time that he was actively seeking a move away from United, having grown accustomed to playing an integral role for a senior club during his successful loan spell with Sunderland in 2022/2023.

However, when taking his chances with both hands and forcing his way into Ten Hag’s plans, Amad soon became a regular in the team. He featured in each of United’s closing eight league fixtures in 2023/2024, starting the final three, before retaining his role in the 11 for this term’s opening clashes with Fulham and Brighton and Hove Albion, scoring in the latter outing.

Amad is loving life at Old Trafford

As such, the winger is now said to be pleased with the role he’s being trusted with in M16, with Fabrizio Romano today telling CaughtOffside: “Manchester United fans have also been asking me about an important contract situation involving young winger Amad Diallo.

“A new deal will be discussed at the right moment. There is no pressure. There is a great feeling between United and Amad. At United, they love him, while Amad is also very happy with his game time now.”
