Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo has backed Ruud Van Nistelrooy to make a difference after the former Real Madrid striker returned to Old Trafford to join Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff.
Cristiano Ronado’s relationship with Erik ten Hag was strained from the beginning, with the Dutch coach previously praised for dealing with the difficult exit for the Portuguese star.
Ronaldo has been vocal about Ten Hag but still wants Manchester United to succeed.
The former Red Devil believes that the Manchester United boss can benefit from one key change that Ineos made during the summer.
Ronaldo believes that Van Nistelrooy can make a difference at Old Trafford
The former Red Devils has recently appeared on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast and has been speaking about his time in Manchester and the current form of the Red Devils under Ten Hag.
Speaking on Ferdinand’s podcast, Roandlo said: “If Ten Hag listens to Ruud, maybe he can,” Ronaldo said when asked if Van Nistelrooy can help United. “I think it can help a lot because he knows the club and the club should listen to the guys who were there.
“You [Rio] or Roy Keane or Paul Scholes or Gary Neville, whatever, Sir Alex Ferguson. You cannot, you cannot rebuild a club without knowledge.
“Not guys who work in an office. They understand. I understand, I understand a lot of football because I see football in the television every day. No, this is not, doesn’t work like that.
“The people who understand the football, it was, 99% is the people who was there in the dressing room, who was player, who was the most successful coaches in the world. Guardiola, Ferguson they were players before.
“They understand. They know how to deal with the players. It’s the people who understand these things.
“So I believe that Ruud is going to help because he was inside the club. He knows the club. He knows the fans. If the coach listens to him, I think they can improve a little bit the club.”
