Gareth Southgate has already received job offers amid Manchester United links

Former England manager Gareth Southgate was heavily linked with the Manchester United job before Euro 2024. The club decided to stand by Erik ten Hag despite meeting with several potential candidates over the summer.

After spending eight years in charge of England, Southgate has now revealed that he has already had job offers – but admitted his next role may be outside football.

I don’t think we’ll be seeing Southgate turn to music and headline Glastonbury anytime soon, but it is interesting to hear he could take up a job outside football. He could also set his focus on helping charities over the coming months/years.

Much to the anger of fans, Southgate has already been heavily linked with United but he says he will take his time before deciding on his future. He would have no shortage of offers to do after-dinner speaking.

Southgate told Sky News: “I’m not going to rush into anything. I’ve got lots of opportunities, I’m very open-minded to what’s next. That might be in football, that might be outside of football. I’m just going to take some time, refresh, recharge and go from there. I think at the moment people know that I need to get my energy back.

“I had an incredible eight-year journey with the team, it was an absolute privilege to be manager of my country. I worked with brilliant players, fantastic staff.”

United fans don’t want to see Southgate linked with the job, especially those who feel the focus should be on rallying behind Ten Hag and the team.
