Manchester United will be hoping to get back to winning ways when the Premier League campaign resumes after the international break.

After suffering back-to-back defeats, it has been a sluggish start for Erik ten Hag’s side and fears are growing after seeing the Reds finish eighth last season.

United will make the long trip south to face Southampton for the early kick-off on Saturday, which yet again proves that fans are never considered when matches are planned.

The hosts on Saturday have started the season poorly, losing all three of their opening fixtures and scoring just one goal.

This season started like how last season ended – with multiple players nursing injuries. Mason Mount was added to the injury list ahead of the defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

United will also be without new signing Leny Yoro, Victor Lindelof, and Tyrell Malacia. Some reports suggest Luke Shaw and Rasmus Hojlund are both nearing a return, but they remain doubts as Ten Hag has yet to address the media ahead of the game.

This means Ten Hag could be without up to six players for United’s trip to St. Mary’s.

Shaw has not played for United since February, despite being busy with England in the latter stages of Euro 2024. Hojlund suffered a hamstring injury in a pre-season friendly against Arsenal, but sources suggest he has been doing everything he can to step up his recovery.
