Flamengo see deal collapse after pursuing former Manchester United forward

Anthony Martial became a free agent this summer when his contract expired at Manchester United.

There wasn’t a lot of speculation about him during the summer, which suggests that his stock has fallen significantly in recent years – or maybe he’s considered a risk with excessive demands.

Martial has been linked with a move to AEK Athens, but it emerged last week that the French forward could move to Brazil.

According to a report from Meia Hora, as cited by the Manchester Evening News, Martial’s proposed move to Flamengo has ‘collapsed’ due to his wage demands.

It is claimed that Flamengo have backed out of a deal to sign Martial because his demands were reportedly ‘unworkable’ for Flamengo.

Before leaving Old Trafford this summer, Martial has one of United’s highest earners. It sounds like he is hanging on for another big pay day but it won’t be easy to come by unless he is willing to move to Saudi Arabia…
