Antony didn’t attract any interest during the summer, but suddenly reports suggest Newcastle want to sign the Brazil international.

According to Caught Offside, Newcastle are plotting a January swoop for Antony.

The United winger has been out of favour so far this season, only getting cameo appearances since the 2024/25 campaign began.

It is understood that Newcastle manager Eddie Howe and his staff feel they could help Antony turn a corner.

Antony, who cost United north of £80m, is considered a back-up if Newcastle fail to sign Nottingham Forest forward Anthony Elanga.

Elanga was sold last summer after coming through the youth ranks. However, Newcastle appear to favour the Swede over Antony which is telling.

It is believed United would accept an offer in the region of £40m for Antony.

Antony has been a flop since his transfer from Ajax and it sounds like he is running out of time at Old Trafford. He has this season to turn things around or he’ll be forced out of the club.
