Harry Maguire arrived in the Republic of Ireland to a warm reception ahead of England’s UEFA Nations League clash at the Aviva Stadium.
Heimir Hallgrimsson is set to take charge of his first match as head coach of the Republic of Ireland, with former Ireland international Lee Carsley taking charge of England on an interim basis following the departure of Gareth Southgate.
Carsley is set to bring Maguire back into the line-up after the United centre-back missed Euro 2024 due to injury.
This is a fixture with lots of history, but the Irish (many of them being United fans) were delighted to see Maguire in Dublin ahead of the game.
Maguire stopped to sign autographs and you can see in the video below that all of the exchanges were good-natured.

It marks an improvement in Maguire’s reception from his last trip in Dublin. He was subjected to boos from a minority during a pre-season friendly with United, but thankfully the rest of them tried to drown out that noise.
The England international has always taken time for the fans and didn’t deserve the abuse he was previously subjected to.
