Flamengo interested in signing former Manchester United forward available on Bosman

Former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial could be set for a move to Brazil.

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano claims Flamengo contacted the Frenchman over a move, as they look to replace Pedro, who is currently nursing an ACL injury.

The reporter adds that Martial has several options for his future, which sounds like agent chatter because I don’t recall many clubs knocking on his door during the summer transfer window. That proves how much his stock has fallen since bursting on the scene as a young striker at Monaco and United.

Martial never reached the heights expected of him at United and struggled with injuries towards the end of his stint at the club. I still hope he can get back to playing regularly because he was a fascinating prospect whenever he had a run of games under his belt.

Sadly, that didn’t happen enough at United.

Flamengo are not the only team to be linked with a move for Martial this week.

Reports suggest the former United star has been offered a record-breaking to join Greek giants AEK Athens.

It has been suggested that AEK Athens are willing to make Martial the highest-earner in the club’s history.

Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela is currently the club’s highest-paid player but Martial’s proposed wage would seemingly blow his earnings out of the water.
