Manchester United structure changes lead to Andy O’Boyle departure

Manchester United are making more changes to their senior football leadership structure.

The latest news states Deputy Football Director Andy O’Boyle will leave Old Trafford after two years in the role, as per The Athletic.

O’Boyle, who is thought highly of within the industry, joined United from his role of head of elite performance at the Premier League in May 2022. He was recruited to support then-football director John Murtough to improve the men’s, women’s and academy operations.

He has stayed up until this point to allow Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new structure to take place at the club. United were waiting for Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox and Dan Ashworth to take up their roles as chief executive, technical director and sporting director respectively.

Meanwhile, Christopher Vivell has since been installed as interim director of recruitment.

It is understood that O’Boyle was heavily involved in the recent summer transfer window as United made five major signings and waved goodbye to Mason Greenwood, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay.

Jadon Sancho has also left the club on loan to join Chelsea.
