ESPN’s Rob Dawson has verified reports that Galatasaray ‘are considering’ a move for Casemiro.
The Manchester United midfielder has found himself in the firing range after a shoddy showing against Liverpool saw him at fault for Luis Diaz’s first-half brace. As a result, he was withdrawn at the interval and replaced by 20-year-old debutant Toby Collyer.
Casemiro has started each of the Reds’ opening three matches this term, instantly resuming his midfield partnership with teenage counterpart Kobbie Mainoo after he became a mainstay in the 11 last term. However, responsibility has far too often fallen on Mainoo to cover for his teammate’s mistakes.
There are hopes that new recruit Manuel Ugarte, who hadn’t been registered in time to face the Merseyside outfit, will implement a sense of composure to United’s currently frenzied play style. That would, in turn, see the Brazilian more frequently dropped to the bench – despite being the club’s highest earner on a reported £350,000 per week.
United mull over Casemiro exit
Should any agreement with Galatasaray materialise, United would need to see part of Casemiro’s wages covered. There are nine days to try and hash out a deal before Turkey’s September 13 deadline, and it’s thought that a one-year loan move is the most likely option at this moment in time.
