Dan Ashworth reveals Ineos stance on Erik ten Hag Manchester United future

Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth has given his full support for Erik ten Hag and has reinforced the message that they believe the former Ajax coach is the man to return the club to its past glory.

Erik ten Hag has had a troubling start to the 2024/25 Premier League season with two losses in the first three games with a humbling 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford last time out.

After speculation in the summer that Ineos were looking to replace the Dutch coach, they decided to trigger his contract extension but pressure will continue to mount on the Red Devils boss if he cannot improve results.

However, Dan Ashworth has publicly given his backing to Ten Hag prior to the 3-0 defeat to Arne Slot’s side.

Speaking in a Q&A with the media Dan Ashworth has pledged his support to the Red Devils boss despite the exterior pressure on the Dutch coach.

As per the Guardian, Ashworth said: “Very rarely do you go into a job as a sporting director and there’s no manager in place.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with Erik for the last eight weeks.

“I see my job is to support him in every way I possibly can, and whether that’s operationally, whether that’s with recruitment, whether that’s with medical, whether that’s with psychology, whether that’s training‑ground flow, it’s just to take as much of that off him to allow him to fully focus on the training pitch and the match tactical plan to deliver success for Manchester United.”
