Manchester United fans had been clinging onto the hope that Casemiro had undergone something of a revitalisation over the summer break.
Yet, three games into the campaign, the Brazilian is back to the standards that supporters had grown accustomed to in 2023/2024.
Liverpool lead 2-0 heading into half-time and, at the time of writing, Casemiro has lost possession 10 times already in the match – the most of any player.
For Luis Diaz’s opener, Casemiro was under no pressure at all outside the area. Yet, he dispatched a dismal attempt of a pass straight to Ryan Gravenberch, who was able to carry the ball and play in Mohamed Salah, who assisted Diaz with an inch-perfect cross.
The 32-year-old proceeded to be shrugged off the ball just moments later by Diaz, after which the Colombian netted his second of the match.
