Salah rubs salt in United’s wounds by admitting he was ‘surprised’ Liverpool didn’t score five or six

Mohamed Salah has now scored in each of his last seven trips to Old Trafford.

Today, the Liverpool talisman extended the impressive feat when he netted his side’s third and final goal of the game, having already tallied two assists for Luis Diaz in the first half.

Diaz’s opener, which Casemiro was largely at fault for, came after a somewhat cagey 35 minutes of action between the two rivals. However, in true Manchester United fashion, they floundered under the cosh of Liverpool’s relentless attacks.

It took only seven minutes for the Colombian to complete his brace, while Salah’s contribution came just nine minutes after the interval. At that point, you could only ponder what the scoreline could turn into – especially given how these meetings have gone in recent years.

Post-match, Salah rubbed salt in United’s wounds when, after being pressed on whether he considered it an easy match, he told the Sky Sports panel: “I agree with you – I was a little surprised. The game could have finished five or six.”
