Manchester United return to action this Saturday in the early kick-off slot vs Southampton.

Given that the Red Devils entered the international break on the back of two straight defeats, anything other than a convincing win would only increase the mounting pressure on Erik ten Hag’s shoulders – especially given their opponents have yet to claim a point since they returned to the top flight this season.

Across September, the side will see the introduction of Europa League and Carabao Cup football, the former of which they were able to book their spot into after May’s FA Cup triumph over Manchester City.

It does, however, mean that fixtures are now coming thick and fast. After last season’s unprecedented and detrimental injury crisis, rotation may be necessary for Ten Hag if he wants to keep a healthy squad at his disposal.

While we wait for club action to resume, take a look at what awaits Ten Hag and his men over the coming four weeks, or discover some new betting sites at askgamblers.com.

How the Reds’ September schedule is shaping up

Saturday, September 14: Southampton (A) – 12.30pm / PL

The Saints enter the clash in 18th place, only above Everton through goal difference. Meanwhile, United are remarkably 14th-placed on just three points, courtesy of their opening-day win over Fulham.

Tuesday, September 17: Barnsley (H) – 8pm / PL

United begin their Carabao Cup campaign in the third round against the League One outfit. This cup was the first trophy Ten Hag claimed in his Red Devils tenure in 2022/2023, but the side exited the competition in only the fourth round last season following a dismal home defeat to Newcastle United.

Saturday, September 21: Crystal Palace (A) – 5.30pm / PL

Last season saw the Reds sustain a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of the Eagles at Selhurst Park, though they are without prolific talisman Michael Olise this time and, at the time of writing, are yet to win a league game in 2024/2025.

Wednesday, September 25: Twente (H) – 8pm / EL

While supporters would much rather see the Reds rubbing shoulders with Europe’s elite in the Champions League, Europa does provide a chance to add a European honour to the trophy cabinet – if the team are up to the task.

Sunday, September 29: Tottenham Hotspur (H) – 4.30pm / PL

Ange Postecoglou has bolstered his options with the likes of Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert over the summer and has since overseen one win, one draw and one loss. The London outfit are also competing in the Europa League with United this season and will be looking to vie for a top-four spot.
