‘It’s looking likely’: Sky journo drops United/Sterling bombshell involving two other PL clubs

After Manuel Ugarte’s arrival is announced by Manchester United, it remains to be seen if any more players will be targeted before the window slams shut.

The Red Devils have found themselves linked with a host of potential additions in recent days, although certain figures are of the view that United’s name is being used to ‘smoke out bidders’ for Premier League outcasts, namely Ivan Toney, Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling.

Of the trio, Sterling seemingly came the closest to agreeing a deal, primarily because United and Chelsea were in talks over a Jadon Sancho swap or loan agreement. The former Manchester City and Liverpool winger had been tipped to form the other half of a part exchange proposal should Sancho depart for Stamford Bridge.

The latest regarding United’s links with Sterling

While the Premier League rivals remain locked in negotiations to make a breakthrough before tonight’s deadline, Sterling will now play no part in any prospective deal. Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol revealed this morning: “It’s looking likely that Raheem Steling will stay at Chelsea or move to Arsenal today.

“There is just as much chance of him staying as leaving.”

He continued to add that the 29-year-old has already worked with Arteta previously in his career, and would be drawn to the prospect of playing Champions League football this season, which is off the cards with United.
