‘Conversations going on’: Dan Ashworth divulges his ‘missed calls’ during EL draw as he hints at more signings

Manchester United Sporting Director Dan Ashworth was in attendance at this afternoon’s Europa League draw, along with Director of Sport Sir Dave Brailsford.

Given that the draw was penned in for deadline day, Asworth confirmed that he’d had a few ‘missed calls’ during the process, as the Red Devils have a matter of hours to finalise any further signings before the window slams shut.

The club are yet to formally announce the arrival of Manuel Ugarte, and, after they failed to register him by today’s 12pm deadline for the upcoming gameweek, he won’t be able to feature against Liverpool on Sunday.

More signings on the way at Old Trafford?

Nonetheless, it was confirmed yesterday that he’d passed his medical and signed all the necessary paperwork to officially become a United player. He joins Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui as Erik ten Hag’s recruits this summer – but there could well be more to add to the list.

Ashworth told Mike Keegan this afternoon: “I had a few missed calls (in the draw). I kept getting nudged from Sir Dave Brailsford! My phone was vibrating. Let’s see what happens. The window is still open. We’ve got some conversations going on.”

  1. Having failed to register Ugarte in time, with Scott McTominay transferred and Mount injured (AGAIN), looks like the United midfield is F**ked for Sunday
