Video: Manchester United boost as Rasmus Hojlund returns to training

Manchester United have received a boost after Rasmus Hojlund has returned to training ahead of the Liverpool fixture on Sunday.

Rasmus Hojljund has not featured in the opening two Premier League fixtures due to a hamstring issue he picked up on the Red Devils’ pre-season tour.

Hojlund suffered his hamstring issue after scoring an impressive goal against Arsenal in the US.

The Danish striker scored 16 goals in his first campaign for United with the youngster keen to improve at Old Trafford.

The former Atalanta striker has new competition in Manchester with summer signing Joshua Zirkzee already off the mark in a red shirt with his debut goal against Fulham.

Hojlund has changed his number from 11 to the famous number nine shirt at Old Trafford as he seeks to become a reliable forward for Erik ten Hag.

After a disappointing injury to Mason Mount Ten Hag will be pleased to hear that Hojlund is nearing a return to full training.

It will be a welcome return for the Dutch manager who is keen to have more options available this season after a horrendous injury record hampering the last campaign.

Zirkzee and Hojlund do have the ability to play with each other, which could be a frightening proposition for opposing defenders.

The new summer signing can play in a variety of positions whereas the Dane is more comfortable as a number nine running in the channels and challenging the defenders with his physicality.

Manchester United’s official website released footage of the Danish striker pushing hard in the gym as he undertakes the next step of his recovery.

The statement also read: “Everyone at the club is looking forward to seeing Rasmus back in action and we wish him the best as he continues to work his way towards a return.”
