Manchester United midfielder confirms injury setback with minor muscle issue

Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount has suffered an injury setback that is due to keep him out of action for a few games.

Mount was forced off at half-time of last weekend’s Premier League defeat away at Brighton.

It comes as a blow to United ahead of the Liverpool clash because Mount had started the first two games of the season.

Mount also started in the Community Shield against Man City.

In a statement posted across social media this afternoon, Mount related this message to fans (via ManUtd.com): “During the last game, I picked up a minor muscle issue.

“I’ve had it checked and it looks like I’ll be out for a few games. Leading up to and during pre-season, I worked hard to get my fitness back to where it needs to be and I felt re-energised, sharp and ready.

“I wanted you to hear it directly from me how frustrated I am, as I expect you are too. I will do everything possible to be back in the best shape and help the team.”

It’s a sincere message from Mount and he must be gutted. It’s a huge setback because it looked like he was going to get a run in the team.

Mount has to wait a bit longer for that run in the team where he aims to prove himself.
