Interim England manager explains leaving Manchester United star out of squad

England interim manager Lee Carsley has told Marcus Rashford that he will be considered for selection in the future despite missing out on a place in his squad for next month’s Nations League games against Ireland and Finland.

Rashford would not have been expecting to make the England squad for the upcoming internationals, especially after being left out of the Euro 2024 squad, even though that was under Gareth Southgate.

The United forward hasn’t started the season strongly. He needs to get back to his best by scoring goals if he wants to be part of future England teams. The last thing he needs is to lose his place in the United team.

Speaking to the media after announcing his squad, Carsley said (via Daily Mail): “Rash and Maddison? There are players ahead of them.

“They are on the radar and will be considered in the future.”

Carsley included two United players in his England squad. They include Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo.
