Rio Ferdinand laughs as Cristiano Ronaldo pledges to surpass legends with brazen video quip

Rio Ferdinand has appeared on Cristiano Ronaldo’s new YouTube channel as the first guest.

The two former Manchester United stars had a chat during which Ronaldo made a subtle dig towards football’s biggest legends.

Ronaldo stated that the availability of footage of his goals gives him the edge over the goalscoring icons of previous generations.

After scoring a free-kick for Al Nassr on Tuesday, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner reached a career tally of 899 goals.

Brazil legend Pele has the most with 1,281 goals – 550 of those came in exhibition and amateur matches.

Without naming names of the legends he was referencing, Ronaldo told his former United team-mate Ferdinand why his goals matter more.

Ronaldo said: “Soon I will do 900 and, after, I will beat 1,000.

“I want to reach 1,000 goals. If I don’t have injuries, this, for me, is the most important. I want that.

“It’s the best marker I can have in football. There will be one difference: all of my goals have videos, so I can prove that.”

This was when Ferdinand burst out laughing. He said: “You’re a b*****d. You’re talking about Alfredo Di Stefano, Pele, Eusebio.”

Do you think Ronaldo will score 1,000 goals by the time he retires?
