Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte is set to become Manchester United’s fifth major summer signing.

The Uruguay international, who has been linked with a move to United all summer, arrived at Carrington late last night ahead of his imminent transfer.

Ugarte broke his silence on the deal before boarding his flight from Paris to Manchester.

The Sun published a picture of the South American and his representatives at Carrington, with medical examinations expected to take place this morning.

Medical scheduled today

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has relayed the same information, adding that Ugarte is scheduled to undergo a medical today.

United have already added four players to their squad during the current transfer window. They include Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

It remains to be seen if Ugarte will be signed and registered in time to make the squad that will face Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

United lost 2-1 against Brighton in their previous outing, after beating Fulham 1-0 in the opening game of the new Premier League campaign.

Meanwhile, Scott McTominay is set to sign for Serie A outfit Napoli. The midfielder came off the bench in United’s first two games of the season.

It is believed that the sale of McTominay helped United push on with their summer long pursuit of Ugarte.
