‘We always look for better’ – Ten Hag keeps cards close to his chest with response on Ugarte transfer

Erik ten Hag was not in the form for discussing transfers after Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday, but that didn’t stop reporters from asking about transfer target Manuel Ugarte.

Few could blame him after such a disappointing result. Brighton continued their 100% record at our expense, and I still don’t think we deserved to lose the game.

Reporters wasted no time after the match to ask Ten Hag for updates on United’s transfers. The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Ugarte was the focus of the question this afternoon.

Ten Hag told reporters (via Manchester Evening News): “I don’t’ have any update on anything regarding transfers. We always look for better. When we have news we will report it and in this moment I have not heard anything, so I don’t think there is anything to tell.”

The manager added: “As I said, when we have news, we will report it and now we don’t have news.”

United have just over a week left until transfer deadline to finish their business in the summer window. Hopefully we can get a deal for Ugarte across the line because a defensive midfielder with more legs than Casemiro is needed.
