Napoli make initial offer for McTominay; €5m short of Manchester United demands

Serie A giants Napoli have proposed an offer for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

The Naples side have been linked with a move for McTominay over the past week, with manager Antonio Conte believed to be an admirer of the Scotland international.

It was reported that Napoli chief Giovanni Manna had been in London for talks over the potential transfer.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli’s first offer for McTominay has arrived and it’s believed to be worth €25 million.

That is short of United’s asking price which is in excess of €30m, as per Fabrizio Romano, and it doesn’t help that they are in the process of trying to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

Billy Gilmour is another target for Napoli but that move is on stand-by. It may become more likely if they’re priced out of a move for McTominay this summer.

That said, Victor Osimhen’s potential exit would give Napoli a lot more money to spend but time is running out.

Stretty News verdict

Manchester United know McTominay’s worth and any bids below £30m should be rejected.

We don’t get our most of our targets in cut price deals, so why should we lose on money in most deals?

This wouldn’t be an issue if Napoli could cash in on Victor Osimhen
