Video: Wayne Rooney proves he still has it after joining in Plymouth training

A video showing Wayne Rooney joining in with Plymouth Argile training has gone viral.

It probably won’t come as a surprise to most of you, but Rooney still has it.

The former Manchester United striker took charge of Plymouth this summer, but they didn’t get off to the start they wanted in the Championship, losing 4-0 on the opening day to Sheffield Wednesday.

Rooney, aged 38, felt the need to show his players a thing or two in an open training session on Tuesday.

United’s all-time record scorer was seen playing some delightful passes, taking the ball down with an incredible first touch and reading the game.

Rooney is living proof that class is permanent.

Next up for Plymouth is a clash with QPR in the Championship. Rooney and his players will be driven to bounce back, but he won’t be able to step away from the touchline this time.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw against Hull City, Rooney said: “I thought the lads gave everything today, that was the most pleasing thing.

“After last week, I think they showed the commitment and energy – they wanted to win.

“We tried to win the game, created by far the better chances, and unfortunately it wasn’t to be.

“We’ll do a bit more work on the training pitch, with our finishing, trying to improve that.”
