Facundo Pellistri has pulled the curtains on his Manchester United career after four years at Old Trafford.
On Wednesday, it was announced that the 22-year-old had completed a permanent move to Panathinaikos on a four-year deal.
The transfer sees him reunite with the coach who awarded him his senior international debut with Uruguay, Diego Alonso – who also included Pellistri in his 2022 World Cup squad before departing for the Greek outfit in 2023.
At Old Trafford, Pellistri vied for a starting role but struggled to cement one due to the host of talent that Erik ten Hag has at his disposal. He gained invaluable first-team experience during his two loan spells with Alvaves and was finally granted his maiden Red Devils outing in a Carabao Cup quarter-final tie on January 10, 2023.

How the skipper reacted to Pellistri’s exit
Following the news of the youngster’s departure yesterday, Bruno Fernandes took to Instagram to send a heartfelt message to his teammate, writing: “Hermanito [it] was a pleasure to meet you and play alongside you.
“If there is someone who deserves everything good in a football career [it] is you! An example of professionalism and humility. Big things are coming to you soon, I’m pretty sure.”
Pellistri’s response was equally as touching and further showcased the kind of effect Fernandes has on the dressing room.
“The pleasure was mine to share and play with you!” he replied. “What a player and, the most important thing, what a guy. Thank you for always being behind me and behind every player in this club. You are the definition of CAPTAIN!”
