Manchester United waiting on proposals for veteran midfielder; offer made to Eredivisie giants

Christian Eriksen could be on the move between now and deadline day, but Manchester United are having to wait patiently for proposals to be tabled for the veteran midfielder.

Recent rumours suggest that United have offered Ajax an opportunity to sign the Denmark international, who has won two trophies in as many years at the club.

Eriksen was a key player under Erik ten Hag in his first season when United won the Carabao Cup. His form dipped last term, and there is a genuine feeling amongst fans that he is surplus to requirements.

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed what he’s hearing when it comes to Eriksen in his latest Daily Briefing column.

The journalist claims United have no proposals on the table for Eriksen, with the 32-year-old proving to be a tricky player to offload.

“Despite some talk of a return to Ajax, I have no concrete updates on Eriksen so far,” Romano told CaughtOffside.

“We’ve had many rumours but the reality is that Man United have still no proposals on the table, so let’s see what happens in the next few days, but it’s quiet now.”

Eriksen isn’t getting any young and he has entered the final 12 months of his contract, which is why Romano thinks the saga could go right down to the wire on deadline day.

It is believed that United want £5m for Eriksen’s signature, which presents good value for the potential buying club.
