Radek Vitek’s season-long loan to Blau-Weiss Linz has been announced by Manchester United.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper joins Austrian Bundesliga outfit BW Linz to gain valuable first team experience and to continue his development as a professional footballer.
Vitek was very unlikely to get the game time he needs at United this season, with Andre Onana cementing his spot in the team as first-choice keeper.
Turkey international Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton are both ahead of the youngster in the pecking order, too.
The Czech Republic U20 international played well in United’s opening pre-season friendly, against Rosenborg in Norway. He made a string of impressive saves before conceding a late winner in Trondheim.
BW Linz are signing a young talent with potential to make it at a high level. It just remains to be seen if Vitek will make it at United – the highest level of all. The Austrian side were promoted in 2022/23, despite being formed in 1997, so it’s a relatively young football club.
We would like to wish Radek the best of luck ahead of his loan at Linz.
