Manchester United academy goalkeeper Radek Vitek is on the verge of joining Austrian side BW Linz on loan, according to reports.
Italian reporter Luca Bendoni claims Vitek is close to join BW Linz on loan.
The Premier League season has begun and when you look at the first-team squad, you can see why the 20-year-old would move elsewhere – on loan at the very least.
Vitek, who has been at United since the age of 16, is thought highly at the club which is presumably the reason why they’d rather do a loan deal with the Austrian side.
The young keeper was sent on loan to Accrington during the second half of last season to gain first-team experience. It’s only right that he wants another taste of regular first-team football and it will only benefit his development as a professional footballer.
BW Linz have already played three games in the Austrian Bundesliga this season, conceding seven goals, so they’ve got problems at the back. Red Bull Salzburg put five past them in one of those fixtures.
Tom Heaton appears to be United’s third choice keeper this season, but it’s likely to be his final season at the club. That means Vitek could be promoted next season.
That said, it doesn’t bode well for any of the other keepers that Onana played all league games last season. Though that should be expected. He is our first-choice keeper.
