Manchester United fans are relishing the return of club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy, who’s taken to the dugout as Erik ten Hag’s assistant manager.

The Dutch icon joins compatriot Ten Hag and newly-appointed Rene Hake on the sidelines this season as the manager embarks on the third year of his Red Devils tenure.

Van Nistelrooy’s illustrious goalscoring career will undoubtedly benefit the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who are still refining their clinicality in front of goal.

As well as that, his general experience – being a two-time La Liga winner, Premier League and FA Cup winner – makes him an invaluable figure to have around the dressing room.

He’s keen for the players to be the sole focus of the term, too – no matter how much the broadcasting channels pan to his face throughout United’s matches.

After last Friday’s 1-0 win over Fulham, he was spotted modestly urging the Old Trafford faithful, who were singing his chant, to sing for the players instead. Take a look at the footage below, courtesy of @thedinhoshow on TikTok.
