As well as Maguire: One Red is confirmed to be harbouring injury woes after opening match omittance

Manchester United got their 2024/2025 Premier League campaign underway last night with a cagey 1-0 win over Fulham.

After last season’s unprecedented injury crisis saw around 62 cases of issues that led to a player missing a match, fans are keeping their fingers crossed that their fate has changed this time around.

Their spirits were, however, dampened when Rasmus Hojlund and new recruit Leny Yoro sustained layoffs during the pre-season tour. Tyrell Malacia remains sidelined from the knee complaint that he picked up on the final day of the 2022/2023 term, while Luke Shaw is unavailable – to nobody’s surprise.

Against the Cottagers, Jadon Sancho was absent from the matchday squad with what Erik ten Hag claimed to be an ear infection, although the frequent reports of him being linked with a move away from Old Trafford had supporters thinking otherwise. Victor Lindelof, who missed the final months of 2023/2024, was also omitted.

Lindelof still not fully fit

His partner, Maja, shared a video to Instagram this morning that showed the defender walking using a crutch. It was captioned: “Doing everything in slow motion these days”.

His counterpart, Harry Maguire, was withdrawn in the second half of Friday’s victory while clutching his leg. Hopefully, it was a precautionary substitution, as the England international put in a stellar shift during his time on the pitch.
