Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves echo Premier League prediction for Manchester United

The Premier League is back underway tonight when Manchester United host Fulham at Old Trafford, so pundits within the game are revealing their predictions ahead of the new campaign.

Former Manchester United duo Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves have given their top four Premier League predictions ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Ferdinand reckons Arsenal will beat Man City in the title race to prevent Pep Guardiola’s side from winning a fifth consecutive Premier League title in a row. He is backing Liverpool to finish third and United in fourth.

That would represent an improvement on last season’s eight-place finish and secure a spot in the Champions League next year.

“I think it’s hard to go against City because how success they’ve been over the last four seasons and they’ve set a new benchmark,” Ferdinand told TNT Sports. “A new record with four in a row and that will be their aim. That will be the target they are aiming for in the dressing room.

“I just think Arsenal, Calaflori coming in on the left-hand side, if he comes in and sures that area up… I think he’s a fantastic player, played at Bologna under Thiago Motta, he understands that type of football that Arteta wants to play.

“I think that was the area that was a slight weakness in the team, he gives them a bit of balance there and a bit of stability. So I’ll go maybe Arsenal to win it, but there’s got to be a hunger.

“And there’s my top four there, I’m going to go with that. Man United improving on that eighth position of last season to [the] top four but I’ve got a sneaky feeling about Arsenal.”

Hargreaves, however, has Guardiola’s City to come out on top again.

The former United midfielder added: “Chelsea, I wouldn’t have them [in the top four]. I don’t know what’s going to happen with Chelsea.

“I think United are going to be a lot better as well. Their recruitment’s been good, so…”
