Manchester United transfer target left out of PSG squad for Ligue 1 opener

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Uruguay international has been left out of PSG’s squad for their opening Ligue 1 match against Le Harvre, which takes place tonight.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared the latest Ugarte update via X, writing: “Manuel Ugarte, OUT of PSG squad for their opening Ligue1 game. He wants to join Manchester United, deal never been off. Absolutely on. But it will depend on conditions wanted by PSG. Ugarte has been clear: he wants #MUFC as soon as possible.”

Ugarte has been left out of the squad following links with a move away to Manchester United.

The Ligue 1 champions embark on their first campaign without Kylian Mbappe since 2016-17, at Stade Oceane.

Le Harve stayed in Ligue 1 by the skin of their teeth after finishing with 32 points in 15th place, just three points clear of relegation.

Luis Enrique dropped Ugarte from his starting line-up last season and it doesn’t bode well for the Uruguayan in terms of game time for the coming season.

At least at United, he will be guaranteed game time under a manager who actually wants him.
