Scott McTominay considering Serie A switch ahead of potential Manchester United exit

Napoli are trying to finance a deal to sign Scott McTominay.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is ‘considering’ an offer from Napoli ahead of the transfer deadline, according to ESPN.

Rumours surfaced over the last few days regarding the Serie A club showing an interest in the Scotland international.

However, McTominay isn’t one of the first midfielders I would be pushing through the door this summer. The problem stems from struggling to find a buyer for Casemiro as well as Christian Eriksen.

It is understood United will consider offers for McTominay if they are presented with a bid they deem acceptable.

United are believed to be demanding between £25m-£30m for McTominay’s signature, which I think represents very good value for any potential buyer.

McTominay was one of Erik ten Hag’s most influential players last season – most often from the bench – and he may want to move on if he can secure regular football elsewhere. That would be achievable at Napoli if they can reach an agreement with United.

  1. United should be offering McTominay a new contract, not selling him.
McTominay is not known for moaning because he is not a starter and always gives 100% even if asked to play in any position on the pitch (he started at United as a centre forward). Also his salary is way short of most of the “stars”.

With a midfield of Ugarte & Mainoo, with Casemiro (?) & McTominay as back up and Collyer and Gore in reserve. Fernandes and Mount as attacking midfielders
