‘Lost his way’ – Sky Sports pundit tells United fans not to get excited by De Ligt transfer

While I don’t know any Manchester United fans who care for Tim Sherwood’s opinion, I thought we would make an example of the bitter former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager.

During an incredible rant on Sky Sports, Sherwood warned United fans not to get excited over the club’s latest signing Matthijs de Ligt.

The Netherlands international joined United from Bayern Munich on Tuesday, along with Moroccan full-back Noussair Mazraoui.

However, Sherwood believes De Ligt has lost his way, and uses every other cliché in the book to belittle United’s latest recruit.

Speaking on Sky Sports, as seen in the video below, Sherwood said: “If I were a United fan I wouldn’t be jumping up and down with excitement…When he [De Ligt] was a younger player he was a very good prospect but he has gone to a big club and lost his way – he needs to find a rhythm again.

“Ten Hag needs to work with him. For that kind of money, you’d expect him to play but there is no guarantee because he has made some big money signings and they have sat on the bench next to him. I am sure the new hierarchy will say ‘we got him for you, you will need to bed him in’.”

For starters, Sherwood knows nothing about being a United fan. He’s always been bitter because we are the ones responsible for spoiling his childhood.

And it’s not like Erik ten Hag is going to feel forced to play De Ligt. This is a player the Dutchman requested the club to sign when he initially arrived as manager at Old Trafford.

Sherwood is only trying to add to the pressure that comes with playing for a club like United. If Spurs made this signing, he’d be waxing lyrical over the Netherlands centre-back.
