Thomas Frank shares update on Brentford star’s future amid Manchester United links

Manchester United are still thought to be interested in a move for Brenford striker Ivan Toney.

The transfer saga is likely to run right up until August 30, with reports suggesting that United and Chelsea may tempt Brentford with a loan plus obligation to buy deal closer to transfer deadline day. It has also been described as a PSR-friendly deal.

Thomas Frank has responded to recent speculation by stated he doesn’t know where Toney will be playing his football on September 1, but he hopes it is at Brentford.

The Brentford manager also hailed the forward’s attitude, despite being linked with a move away from the club all summer.

Frank told talkSPORT (via Manchester Evening News): “People will keep asking me [about Toney] until the 1st of September. Honestly, I don’t know. What I do know is that he’s a Brentford player. I’m very happy about that. If he’s in my team on the 1st of September, I’ll be delighted. He’s not been sold yet. His attitude has been brilliant, as always. Ivan is a fantastic player, he’s even better as a person. He just loves to play football.”

United are unlikely to be in a position where they will be able to afford a deal to buy Toney outright, unless Brentford lower their demands.

Chelsea are also believed to be sniffing around the England international.
