‘Press-resistant’ United whiz hands in transfer request after playing sporadic role under Erik ten Hag

Now at a crucial stage of his senior career, Hannibal Mejbri knows he cannot oversee another season like he did in 2023/2024.

The ‘press-resistant’ 21-year-old spent the first half of the campaign with Manchester United, featuring sporadically under Erik ten Hag and being utilised primarily as an off-the-bench option.

Then, when the winter window rolled around, Hannibal rebuffed an approach from Everton to sign for Sevilla on loan, despite reports at the time suggesting that United would’ve preferred him to stay and gain invaluable Premier League experience.

His temporary spell ended up benefitting no parties; in the 20 matches Sevilla played following Hannibal’s arrival, the midfielder featured in only six of them. He made one sole start and a further five appearances as a substitute, totalling just 101 minutes on the pitch across the four months.

Hannibal pushes for Old Trafford exit

Ten Hag has utilised the Carrington graduate somewhat in pre-season, but it’s highly unlikely that he’ll play a prominent first-team role when the campaign officially gets underway this Friday.

As such, Buzz News Tunisia claims Hannibal has now handed in a transfer request in hopes of sealing a permanent move before deadline day, with Rangers and Celtic said to be interested.

It remains to be seen what kind of fee United would demand.
