However concerning Manchester United’s situation has been in recent years, fans want to be counting their lucky stars that it’s far from whatever’s going on at Stamford Bridge.

Indeed, Chelsea supporters have been growing more and more perplexed with the state of their club since Todd Boehly took the reins following Roman Abramovich’s departure.

The Blues currently have an unprecedented 43 first-team players in their ranks, which will increase to 45 when Pedro Neto and Samu Omorodion officially complete their moves.

As such, in order to create breathing room around the Premier League’s financial restrictions, the board are doing their utmost to offload homegrown players, whose exits will generate straight profit and help balance the books.

Conor Gallagher has signed a five-year contract with Atletico Madrid after he was forced into negotiating a move away from his boyhood club, with fellow Cobham graduates Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah now also exiled from all first-team action and facilities until they, too, find their next suitor, as confirmed by The Telegraph.

United unlikely to accelerate efforts to sign outcast Chelsea ace

Chalobah, 24, has been linked with United at various stages of the window, primarily due to their unavoidable need to bolster the defensive contingent.

Available for a reasonable £25 million, it was the Englishman’s versatility – being able to play both centrally and at right-back – that caught the eyes of INEOS chiefs.

However, the Reds’ impending, imminent acquisition of Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui means their interest in Chalobah is highly unlikely to materialise before deadline day. Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are hot in pursuit of his signature.
