Former Atletico Madrid centre-back Mario Hermoso is reportedly on Manchester United’s radar.
United are searching the market for more defensive options following Leny Yoro’s injury, which will keep the French centre-back out of action for three months.
According to Spanish journalist Maximo de la Cruz Ramirez, United have initiated official contact with the 29-year-old.
It’s reported that negotiations are in the initial phase with the defender demanding a three-year deal worth a gross salary of €6m.
Hermoso is a free agent after his contract at Atletico Madrid expired earlier this summer.
Signing a versatile defender like Hermoso could have its benefits given he can play at centre-back and left-back. They are two positions we struggle with in terms of squad depth.
That means Hermoso could arrive at United as a back-up option to not just Lisandro Martinez but Luke Shaw, with the latter a doubt for Saturday’s Community Shield against Man City.
